The Ostiense neighborhood is one of the most important and recognized districts in the entire city of Rome, located in the southern part of of the city and delimited by the Mura Aureliane and the river Tevere. The neighborhood Ostiense takes its name from the main road, Via Ostiense, that carries on and crosses the entire district, in the direction of the Ostia area, and with the sea. In fact, this road was one of the oldest and most important roads in the Ancient Roman Empire, connecting the city to the port. However, it was only during the Fascist age that the area has received its status as a new neighborhood and community, despite its long and articulated history.
